Why we all Love to Window Shop!
Sometimes there is nothing better then spending a little time out, to wander around the shops looking at the fashion collections, admiring the craftsmanship of furniture, drooling over the latest stilettos or picturing that beautiful diamond ring on our finger. Window-shopping is in many ways escapism. It allows us to escape from our daily lives or simply just gives us something to do if we are bored.
I myself found myself wandering round the shops in the rain the other day, following my friends around as they spent their wages on gorgeous dresses and shoes, whilst I was quite happy to simply wander round and admire the latest fashion treats on offer. Now, I love shopping and am rather fond of admiring items I would never be able to afford so this got me thinking – why do we all love to window shop?
Some people window shop in order to assess what are the new trends and to make informed decisions about these trends, others meanwhile like to go window shopping every month to make mental list about what their next wage packet will be spent on. In many ways then, window-shopping allows us to choose where our next fashion statement will come from and how much it is likely to cost us.
But window-shopping is much more than that, as for me, it enables me to spend some quality time with my friends, to grab a coffee that is high in calories and try on items I would never choose to buy yet admire greatly on other people. Window-shopping is then a social activity and one that no longer needs to take place over physical locations, but instead can be carried out online.
Online shopping has become huge in the UK with more and more of us choosing to shop online thanks to the fast, efficient and secure service we receive from most online retailers. Internet shopping has also enabled us to take window-shopping to the next level as we can now bookmark or add items to our shopping baskets for future purchase or contemplation.
Social shopping sites like ShoppingBank have revolutionised the online shopping experience even further by introducing the social elements of shopping including talking to friends, sharing fashion advice, and even offering us the ability to say to our online friends ‘Yes, your bum will look big in that! – Do not buy it!’ and so on.
Online shops or department stores like ShoppingBank offer us the chance to view millions of products from thousands of retailers all in one place without having to fight the crowds or trawl up four sets of escalators to reach the department we need. Instead, we can simply search for what we are interested in, view the collections and should we wish to send suggestions to friends or ask for opinions via the ShoppingBank platform.
The way in which we window-shop is changing and as shoppers so must we. The world is going online and so too are the ways in which we socialise and communicate. ShoppingBank is the ideal place to shop and socialise at the same time. Joining is easy and even setting up your ‘shop’ could not be easier with the quick set up wizard. In short, ShoppingBank is a ‘one stop shop’ for all our window shopping, and social interaction needs. Find out more, here. Not that I am biased of course!
I really do love this system – it’s like having a virtual, visual list… I’m such a list person, whether its things to do or things to pick up from the supermarket and things to buy for either myself (yes please!!) and for others (so nice to list and refer back). I love it!
Having now done away with about a billon bookmarked sites (never can go back and find which one had which product) I find myself looking just on the one site, my goodie list all in one place!
…even better now too that my thoughts turn to all things Christmas!
Thanks for the positive feedback Heather…. hopefully you’ll point all your friends and family in our direction too
Best wishes,
Dominic
